Assistant Professor
I am originally from the UK, where I received my PhD in chemistry from Loughborough University and began working on ambient ionization mass spectrometry techniques for biological applications. In 2020 I moved to the US as a postdoctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, before joining the University of Pittsburgh in 2024.
Graduate Student
I hold a B.Sc. in Chemistry from K.N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, Iran (2015) and an M.Sc. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Illinois (2023). My master's research focused on biochemical production from waste such as Corn stover, and carbon dioxide. I worked on the fermentation process of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria to generate valuable compounds such as formic acid, acetic acid, and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and the detection and quantification of these products using chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques.
Graduate Student
I am from Titusville, PA and attended Allegheny College, majoring in Chemistry with a double minor in Spanish and Astronomy. My undergraduate research focused on inhibitor design and probing of a DEAD-Box protein, DDX-52, which was found to be upregulated in certain cancers.
Graduate Student
I am from Wellsburg, West Virginia. I attended Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia for my undergraduate studies in which I earned a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Criminal Justice. My undergraduate research focused on human disease studies, including the testing of a drug treatment for stroke that targeted a particular type of cell death known as ferroptosis.
Undergraduate Student
My name is Peicheng Li, I am from Yunnan, China. I am a senior undergraduate student from University of Pittsburgh and my major is Chemistry.
