The Rankin-Turner lab is an analytical chemistry laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. We use a combination of ambient ionization mass spectrometry and thermal desorption-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry to study the human volatilome, which is the complex blend of volatile organic compounds released by the human body. We are particularly interested in utilizing cutting-edge mass spectrometry techniques to probe changes in the volatilome in response to disease, infection and environmental factors, with a primary focus on skin and breath.
The Rankin-Turner lab is currently recruiting! If interested, contact Stephanie Rankin-Turner at srankin(at)pitt.edu
